Thank You for Making CJA's 2011 Annual Dinner a Great Success

Celebrating our Victories in the Movement for Global Justice
May 26th, 2011

CJA would like to thank our generous sponsors and supporters who made our 2011 Annual Dinner, Celebrating our Victories in the Movement for Global Justice, a resounding success.  We feel very fortunate to be part of such a committed and vibrant community of human rights activists.

Over 250 CJA supporters, partners and clients joined us on May 25th in San Francisco to celebrate our successes in holding high-ranking perpetrators accountable and providing redress to survivors of human rights abuses.

The evening provided many powerful examples of people who have made CJA’s work possible.

  • Ambassador Eileen Chamberlain Donahoe, the first U.S. Representative to the UN Human Rights Council,  discussed the promotion and protection of human rights as the cornerstones of U.S. foreign policy.
  • Kamala D. Harris, California Attorney General, was honored for her leadership on behalf of victims of human trafficking.
  • William H. Neukom, San Francisco Giants CEO, was honored for his extraordinary commitment to international justice through the World Justice Project.
  • Aziz Deria, CJA client in Yousuf v. Samantar, spoke about his experience holding former Somali defense minister Mohamed Samantar accountable, in a U.S. court, for human rights abuses.
  • Willie L. Brown, Jr., former mayor of San Francisco served as master of ceremonies.
